I borrowed some giraffe bones a while back with the idea of making something artistic. As usual with such ventures, they lay around for a while before things came together – Skin and Bones. I wanted to contrast the hard, white bones with soft dark skin.

We had a photoshoot with Amantle recently. First we did some studio work and then we went out to my favourite forest to get the late afternoon light. The weather was perfect and the forest is so wonderful at this time of year! It was great fun in the bush even if the bugs were biting like crazy.

Boipelo dropped around to the studio for a shoot a while ago. So often darker skins seem to be photographed on light backgrounds by default so I wanted to go for a generally darker look—both in terms of the backgrounds but also using mostly more dramatic lighting. I’m chuffed with the result.
